4 Tips For Lowering Stress During a Bathroom Remodel

What comes to mind when you think about a remodeling project?

A stressful, seemingly never-ending process that makes you want to pull your hair out? Or maybe you think of the quick and tidy remodels that are depicted on HGTV, where every struggle is solved in 30 minutes or less? The reality of a remodel is probably somewhere in the middle of those two thoughts, but it can still feel overwhelming just thinking about starting a home project.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be stressful! Follow these tips to help make your bathroom remodel run smoothly.

Tips to Survive a Bathroom Remodel

1. Choose the right vendor

It should come as no surprise that the vendor you choose for your remodel can make all the difference in how your project goes from start to finish. Find a remodeler with a proven track record by asking them questions about their experience and available warranties, looking through project photo galleries, and reading through past customer testimonials.

A reputable vendor will be happy to answer your questions and operate from a place of transparency.

2. Stay organized

Organization is key for making it through a remodel with the least amount of stress. Leading up to your project, have one designated place for all the paperwork and documents you might need to reference during the remodel. This includes contracts, budget information, a list of paint colors and product numbers for your project, etc.

Keep this information organized in a way that makes sense for you. If you prefer physical copies of everything, keep them in a file folder that is easy to access. Or, if you prefer to work digitally, keep this information stored in a secure drive that you can access from your computer, phone, or tablet.

3. Identify your point of contact

You’ll save yourself a lot of stress and headaches if you have one point of contact you can turn to during your project. Whether you have a question about the budget, timeline, or something in your contract, having a go-to person to answer you will make things easier for yourself and your vendor.

Once you know your point of contact, keep their contact information in your designated project file so you know exactly where to find it when a question arises.

4. Try to remember that unexpected issues may arise

This is easier said than done, but try to go with the flow as much as you can during your project. Remodels can unearth issues that otherwise would be unknown, which can lead to delays and headaches.

And remember, if you choose a trustworthy vendor that believes in open communication throughout the process (like we do!), you’ll have peace of mind knowing that if an issue does arise, they’ll work with you to get it resolved as quickly as possible.
